Eco Products Maui is a service and supply business founded in 1987 by Chris Baz. Chris grew up in California completing his business degree from San Jose State University in 1966. Chris moved to Maui in 1968 and has been a pioneer in the “back to the land movement” living off the Maui electric grid and growing organic gardens and tropical fruit trees. Chris built a homestead in Kanaio in 1971 where he lived until 1979, He moved to beautiful Ulupalakua in 1980 where he lives today.
Chris utilizes alternative energy, first installing a wind generator in 1975 and his first photovoltaic system in 1980. Chris believes strongly in the value and security of self-reliance with both water and power. Here on our family farm, Ulupalakua Orchards, we have three 15,000 gallon water tanks, plus one over 100,000 gallon reservoir, as well as many smaller ponds stocked with fish and plants creating their own ecosystems and greatly enhancing the environment while supporting an orchard with 500 grafted tropical fruit trees.
The farm uses bio-diesel to power our Kubota tractor and John Deere shredder/chipper. On our farm, we live an organic, natural lifestyle with the support and convenience of modern technology. Our solar-powered home has a modern computerized office with broadband satellite connection, plus a washing machine, gas dryer, dish washer, flat screen LCD TV, vacuum, and power tool shop.
“Thank you for your help over these past many years. You have always been the person who we could call on to get information. You have always been kind and thoughtful with ideas, but most of all, solutions to our problems. Thank you for being there and always having the patience to deal with our questions.” – Michael Kristiansen, Entabeni Gardens
